Aldeia Nova do Cabo · Fundão · Portugal
A garden sanctuary,
in formation.
Water, terraces, orchards and forest gardens on a hillside in central Portugal — land being cared for now, and nine earthen villas still in design.
Existing estate · Aldeia Nova do Cabo, Fundão
Here now
What already exists on the land.
Ponds and stone channels. Terraces stepping down to the orchard. Vines, olives, and the slow blue line of the Serra da Estrela. These are photographs of the estate as it stands.

The land
Come back to the simple things.
Sleep well.
Eat from the land.
Walk beside water.
Sit under trees.
Move your body.
Share a table.
Remember the ordinary beauty of being alive. The land is the protagonist here; everything else is arranged around it.

What is being designed
Not yet open.
Phase I is nine earthen villas in one architectural family, a single shared table, and stays measured in fortnights rather than nights. None of it is built, and nothing is bookable. Programmes will be announced when the land and the buildings are ready for them.

- Nine earthen villas
- Earth, stone and timber; each with its own light and outlook. In design.
- One shared table
- A single dining and gathering space held by the gardens. In design.
- Longer stays
- Shaped for a fortnight or a season — the tempo the land asks for.

Follow
Come for the gardens.
We write a few times a year, when something on the land changes. If you would like to know when the first stays open, leave your name.
